Same camera, USB plug. In a cabin where the single 12V socket is already carrying a phone charger, that is the whole difference and it is the one worth paying for. The camera clips to the headrest strap behind a rear-facing seat and the 4.3-inch monitor sits within a glance of the driving position.

Nothing is cut and nothing is drilled, so the pair moves to another car in about two minutes, which matters in a household where the seat travels between two vehicles. The camera swivels to find the seat once. The screen is small on purpose: a glance at a sleeping child should stay a glance, and a large picture in the corner of your eye is a distraction for the rest of the trip.

A camera shows you what is behind the vehicle. It does not stop the vehicle, it does not watch for you, and it cannot see what is not in the picture: a child crouched against the bumper, a bollard below the lens, a cyclist arriving from the side. Federal rear-visibility rules exist because reversing kills and injures people every year, and the bodies that write those rules ask drivers to look, to walk around the vehicle and to reverse slowly whatever is fitted. Nothing on this site is a substitute for any of that.
