Signal ranges are measured in the open. A steel body, a loaded trailer or a busy band all cost you distance.

Wireless backup cameras: what to settle first

Take a wireless kit when the run is the problem, not the price. The camera still needs power at the back of the vehicle, and on every kit here it takes it from the reversing light, which is the wire you were going to touch anyway. What you save is the length between the tailgate and the dash: the trim clips, the door sills, the grommet through the bulkhead, the hour on your back in the footwell. What you spend instead is signal. An unlicensed 2.4 GHz radio has no protected right to its frequency: the federal rule it is built under says in as many words that it has to accept interference from anything else on the band, and a steel body between transmitter and receiver is a wall the picture has to get through as well. Thirty feet of pickup is a short distance for that. Forty feet of loaded trailer with a fridge in the middle is not, and if that is your vehicle the RV shelf is the one with the antennas made for it. One more thing worth settling before you order: a monitor wired to the reversing light only wakes in reverse. If you want the picture while towing, look for the kits that take their power from the 12V socket instead.

Every screen size and cable length in LeeKooLuu gear is one click away, and the kind on this shelf is wireless camera systems.

Questions people ask

What buyers ask LeeKooLuu about wireless backup cameras

What the radio link has to cross, where the monitor takes its power from, and what changes when the camera sits on the license plate rather than up at the roofline.

How far will a LeeKooLuu wireless camera reach on your vehicle?

Each kit lists its own range and the figure is measured in the open. Through a body the honest answer is less: the steel between the transmitter and the receiver is what the signal has to cross, and a loaded trailer costs more than an empty one.

Does a LeeKooLuu wireless kit still need a wire at the back?

Yes. The camera takes power from the reversing light or a 12V line at that end of the vehicle. What the radio saves you is the video cable through the cabin, which is the long half of the job.

Will your wireless picture drop out?

It can. An unlicensed radio on this band has to accept interference from everything else on it, which is a rule rather than a quirk of one kit. On a long vehicle, or one full of steel, the wired shelf is the one that cannot drop out.

Can you watch a LeeKooLuu wireless camera while driving?

Only if the monitor has power that does not come from the reversing light. On the kits wired that way the screen wakes in reverse and sleeps again. The ones on a 12V or USB feed stay on for as long as you want them.
