A rear-facing seat looks at the trunk. The mirror trick gives you a small doubled picture of it, and at night it gives you almost nothing. The K01 does the same job with a lens: a camera clipped to the headrest strap behind the seat, a 4.3-inch monitor where a glance reaches, and no wiring anywhere in the car.
The camera turns through a full circle, so you set the angle once with the seat installed rather than fighting it from the driving position. After dark it switches to color rather than to infrared gray, which is the difference between seeing a blanket has slipped and seeing that something moved. The monitor plugs into the 12V socket. It shows you a picture of a seat, and that is all it does: it does not watch the child and it is not a reason to look away from the road.

A camera shows you what is behind the vehicle. It does not stop the vehicle, it does not watch for you, and it cannot see what is not in the picture: a child crouched against the bumper, a bollard below the lens, a cyclist arriving from the side. Federal rear-visibility rules exist because reversing kills and injures people every year, and the bodies that write those rules ask drivers to look, to walk around the vehicle and to reverse slowly whatever is fitted. Nothing on this site is a substitute for any of that.
