Specification

Works with
LK8 systems
Fits
RVs and campers

The high-mount camera for an LK8 system. Where the plate camera looks at the ground behind a bumper, this one goes on the back wall of a rig and looks down its length, which is the view that matters when you are hitching alone or pulling out past a line of parked cars.

It pairs with the LK8 monitor, and that pairing is the whole compatibility question: a camera from another system will not talk to it. Mounting means a ladder, a rear wall and sealant around the fixings. Power comes from whatever is live at that end of the rig, and running lights are the usual choice because they give a picture while towing rather than only in reverse.

A camera shows you what is behind the vehicle. It does not stop the vehicle, it does not watch for you, and it cannot see what is not in the picture: a child crouched against the bumper, a bollard below the lens, a cyclist arriving from the side. Federal rear-visibility rules exist because reversing kills and injures people every year, and the bodies that write those rules ask drivers to look, to walk around the vehicle and to reverse slowly whatever is fitted. Nothing on this site is a substitute for any of that.
